27 foreign missions achieve export targets

Out of 56 Bangladesh missions abroad, 27 achieved their targets of export during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, according to the latest statistics of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the Financial Express reported.

The report said that 29 foreign missions missed the targets of export set for them during July-May period of FY17.

New VAT to boost economic growth, revenue: WB

The World Bank endorsed the new value-added tax law, saying the effective implementation of the legislation will boost economic growth and revenue generation, the Daily Star reported.

The Washington-based lender said the new VAT law and the new income tax zones aimed at widening the tax base are the steps in the right direction, the report added.
