Bangladesh govt. plans Tk 4,68,000 crore budget

The size of the next national budget will be Tk 4,68,000 crore with a projected gross domestic product growth rate of 7.6 per cent in 2018-19, according to the finance minister AMA Muhith. Though it will be last budget of the present government’s back-to-back five-year tenure, the size of the budget will not be compromised. Health and education are likely to get most priority in the scheme.

‘BIGTEX 2017’ to kick off November 30

With the name ‘BIGTEX 2017’, three international exhibitions targeting the garments and textile industry will start from November 30 at the International Convention City Bashundahara (ICCB) in Dhaka. The exhibitions are being organized to make machineries easily available to the stakeholders in garments and textile industry. The expos are- Bangladesh International Garment and Textile Machinery Expo 2017,Bangladesh International Fabric and Yarn Expo-2017, and Bangladesh International Dyes, Pigments.

RMG workers protest over due payment

A group of workers of a recently shut readymade garment factory in Gazipur staged a demonstration in Karwan Bazar of Dhaka demanding their due salaries and allowances. The workers also demanded resuming of the factory activities which was shut by its owners on October 30. Nearly 1100 workers used to work in the factory.
