Ctg RMG workers go on strike for Eid bonus

Workers of a readymade garment factory at Chandgaon in Chittagong city went on indefinite strike on Tuesday night demanding Eid bonus, news agency UNB reported.

Officer-in-charge of Chandgaon Police Station M Abul Bashar said the around 2,500 workers of ‘Alfa Textile’ were staging demonstration staying inside the garment factory in the night for Eid bonus, the report added.

Cut duty, lift para-tariff barriers

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed urged the Sri Lankan government to reduce duty on Bangladeshi exports and withdraw para-tariff barriers to increase bilateral trade, the Daily Star reported.

Despite having potential, Bangladeshi goods such as medicine, paper, cement, MS rod and agricultural products cannot be exported in large volumes to Sri Lanka, the report added.

JICA to give Tk 461cr for promoting pvt sector, FDI from Japan

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide Japanese yen 7,033 million or Tk 461 crore with a view to promoting the country’s private sector and foreign direct investment from Japan, New Age reported.

Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday issued a circular to managing directors and chief executive officers of all banks and non-bank financial institutions asking them to sign participation agreement with the central bank by September 25 to utilise the fund, the report added.
