‘Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway’ project approved by ECNEC
In a bid to ease traffic congestion in and around the capital city, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the ‘Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway’ project. The 24-kilometre elevated expressway involves an estimated cost of Tk 169.01 billion as reported by UNB.
The approval came from the 7th ECNEC meeting of the current fiscal year (FY18) with ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Government announces new natural gas source discovery in Bhola
Discovery of a large gas reserve at Shahbazpur of Bhola was revealed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during yesterday’s cabinet meeting. The new found gas field is three and a half kilometres east of Shahbazpur Gas Field, as mapped by officials.
With the addition of the new gas reserve, the total gas reserve of that area would allegedly reach over one trillion cubic feet.
Pakistani exports of textile and clothing grow by 8 percent
Pakistan saw a heatlhy eight percent growth in textile and clothing exports in the first quarter of 2017-18. Reported by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the revival can be attributed to the cash subsidy offered under the prime minister’s exports enhancement package.
The release of pending refunds and better energy supplies also contributed towards increasing exports.
