Chevron to stay in Bangladesh

Chevron intends to make fresh investment of $400 million in Bangladesh’s gas sector in a development that can be termed quite a U-turn from the American oil giant’s previous announcement to exit the country for good.

The fresh investment will go towards setting up a wellhead gas compressor at Bibiyana gas field to increase the gas pressure to the supply line.

16 young trade union leaders receive training

Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS), Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) and Brac Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) have provided training to sixteen young leaders from trade unions. The three-month training course covered various issues including labour policies, workers’ rights and leadership skills.
