The World Bank published the Bangladesh jobs diagnostic report last month which “presents the characteristics and constraints of the labor market in Bangladesh, identifies the objectives of the jobs agenda, and proposes a policy framework to progress toward them.” The report studies the various factors that affect the relationships between supply- and demand-side and influence creation, quality, and inclusion outcomes.” It aims to provide a comprehensive evidence base that can facilitate the development of a national jobs strategy making way for effective policy reform. The report identifies poor quality of jobs, uneven access to jobs, slowing job creation, and lack of dynamic enterprises as key jobs challenges in Bangladesh and gives an overview of the current picture of the Bangladeshi job sector. Analyzing the growth factors it provides a framework to link objectives to a comprehensive policy, strategy, and actions.
