CPD RMG Study Stitching a better future for Bangladesh
Post-Rana Plaza Developments in Bangladesh: Towards Building a Responsible Supply Chain in the Apparel Sector provides an objective update about the progress made in terms of the various initiatives undertaken in view of the Rana Plaza tragedy of April 2013. These include measures in the areas of compensations and support to the victims, workplace safety, workers’ rights and strengthening of public sector organisations which have been implemented over the past three years following the tragedy.
A distinctive feature of the study is that the experience gained in this connection has been analysed from the point of view of ‘organisational learning’, with the objective of developing a working model in the value chain management. The study comes up with a number of recommendations as regards institutionalisation of the various post-Rana Plaza interventions, efficacy of remediation measures, and financing of the ongoing initiatives. The study provides important and critical insights into the newly emerging management system in the apparel supply chain.
