BAPEX confirms gas field in Bhola
BAPEX, the country’s energy explorer, has confirmed the gas field in Bhola with a rich reserve, which was disclosed prematurely by the government last week. The confirmation came following two geological tests in search for existence of high-pressured extractable natural gas.
The new gas field, only 3km away from Shahbazpur field in Bhola, is believed to have a reserve of around 700 billion cubic feet of gas.
Bangladesh ranked sixth in people displacement list
According to a recent report of the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) in Geneva, Bangladesh stands at 6th among the Asian countries with 614,000 people displaced in their own country. China tops the list with 7.4 million people getting displaced primarily due to frequent natural disasters. Philippines and India are next to follow with 5.9 million and 2.4 million displacements respectively.
