India interested to carry out joint study on exports with Bangladesh

India has conveyed its interest to Bangladesh to carry out a joint study on products being exported by the two countries in order to complement each other and attain synergy. The proposal came from Indian Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu in a meeting with Bangladesh’s Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu. The two ministers discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries to further facilitate industrialization in and Indian investment to Bangladesh.
Industries Minister invited Indian investors to invest more in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh drops one notch in global entrepreneurship index

Bangladesh fell one notch down from its previous ranking of 133rd in the latest Global Entrepreneurship Index. Bangladesh now holds the 134th position among 137 countries and also lies at the bottom of all the Asian countries included in the ratings. India stood at 68th with a score of 28.4, more than twice of Bangladesh’s score of 11.8.
The index measures the quality of entrepreneurship and the extent and depth of the supporting environment in countries.

Experts urge govt. to stand against the move to amend WTO e-commerce rules

In statements issued at a seminar titled ‘E-Commerce & Domestic Protection: Issue of WTO Ministerial Conference 2017’ organised by Equity and Justice Working Group Bangladesh, experts urged Bangladesh government to stand against a move made by giant global data companies like Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon and Microsoft along with European Union to amend the e-commerce rules of World Trade Organisation for replacing the discussion option with legally binding entry in the upcoming WTO ministerial conference. Such a move could ruin the domestic market of e-commerce and result in a decline in the government revenue, they said.
