Global buyers cut business ties with 12 more RMG factories
Western retailers’ and buyers’ groups cut business relations with 12 more Bangladeshi readymade garment factories in June on charge of failure in implementing workplace safety measures in their manufacturing units, New Age reported.
The Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh, the platform of EU brands and retailers, terminated business relations with 10 factories of four companies as the suppliers repeatedly failed to implement the corrective action plans provided by the retailers’ group, the report added.
Bangladesh RMG exporters get buyers’ attention in producing value added fashionable cloths
Participants at a trade show in Dhaka have stressed production of value-added readymade garment (RMG) products to woo more buyers with good price and sustainable business, Textile Today reported.
They came up with the observation at a day-long buyers’ and sellers’ meeting of retailers and manufactures hosted by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers’ and Exporters’ Association (BGMEA) in the city on 10 July Monday, the report added.
Bangladesh export grows at snail’s pace in 2016–17 fiscal year
Bangladesh exports grew at a snail’s pace in the just concluded 2016-17 (July 2016-June 2017) fiscal year, showing few signs of speeding up in the new financial year, Xinhua news agency reported.
Exports inched up 1.69 percent to nearly 35 billion U.S. dollars in the 2016-17 fiscal year, an official from Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the report added.
