Foreign aid inflow sees healthy growth

Bangladesh received US$1.72 billion worth of foreign aid in July-November period this fiscal year (FY2017-18). The disbursements of the concessional medium- and long-term (MLT) assistance were 91 per cent higher than $903.18 million registered in the corresponding period of last FY (2016-17).
Of the total aid, the development partners provided $1.60 billion in concessional loans and $126.73 million in grants.

Japan revises GDP growth projections

Japanese government has revised its growth forecast for the current and next fiscal years. According to the new projections, the economy will expand 1.9 per cent in the current year and 1.8 per cent in the next fiscal year.
Consumer inflation is estimated at 0.7 per cent for this fiscal year and 1.1 per cent for the next.

Bangladesh requests Turkey to drop duties on RMG

In a bid to improve Turkey’s existing strong trade and economic relations with Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina requested the Turkish Prime Minister to withdraw 17 percent and 19 percent additional duty imposed on Bangladeshi RMG and ceramic products. The Turkish Prime Minister assured Bangladesh of looking into it.
The Prime Ministers had talks about consolidating cooperation in key areas, such as, trade and investment, defence, education, tourism and connectivity.
