RCC to inspect workplace safety issues of RMG workers: Mujibul

Published in the Financial Express on 14, May, 2017

State Minister for Labour Mujibul Haque Sunday said the tenure of Accord and Alliance need not to be extended as Remediation Coordination Cell (RCC) will oversee workplace safety issues of RMG workers from now on.

Mujibul said it while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of RCC at a hotel in Dhaka.

The RCC, taken under national initiative, will monitor post inspection remedial works at garment factories.

Accord and Alliance is a western retailers’ platform. The Accord was signed on May 15, 2013 for a five-year tenure. The legally binding agreement among global brands, retailers, and Bangladeshi and global trade unions was signed to ensure safe working environment in the Bangladeshi RMG sector.
