China plans world’s longest tunnel to divert Brahmaputra water

China is planning a 1,000km tunnel to divert Brahmaputra water from Tibet to Xinjiang. The project plan has the potential to become another point of tension between China, India and Bangladesh. The project, if approved, would have huge ramifications for states along the eastern corridor as well as Bangladesh.

India to export 6 lakh tonne of rice to Bangladesh

As per a agreement between India and Bangladesh, India would be exporting around six lakh tonne of rice for meeting its domestic demand and creating a buffer stock. Due to heavy rainfall and flooding, Bangladesh is facing a shortfall of 1.5 million tonne (mt) of rice this year. The modalities of rice export would be negotiated on a G2G (government-to-government) between India and Bangladesh.
